My credit is very poor. How can I get accepted for a new bank account?
The mistake people with poor credit (or no credit) make when applying for a new bank account - any credit or financial service in fact - is that they randomly apply for any account with any bank in the hope that they will be successful. This is the fundamental error and yet it is so easy to correct.
To have the best chance to be accepted, you need to know which bank to apply to and which account you're most likely to be accepted for. This is where we can help. We know which banks and which accounts are available to almost everyone, some with the same facilities that you would get even if you had perfect credit. For a small fee, we can tell you precisely how to get that account you need.
It's also a risky strategy to apply for accounts until you strike lucky. This is because multiple declined applications can cause banks to think there's attempted identify fraud, that you are overstretching yourself or you are in financial trouble. Make an application where you know you stand the greatest chance of being accepted, with our help.
I'm blacklisted. Surely I can't get a bank account or car credit?
There's no such thing as a "blacklist". It is unlawful for a bank or credit company to refuse your application purely on the basis of an automated credit scoring system. And, whilst it's true that some things make getting a bank account more difficult (like CCJ's, arrears, defaults and previous refused applications etc), it is by no means impossible.
With our knowledge and experience of UK and offshore banking, we know where to apply, what to apply for and how to apply. This is why we can offer our Money-back Guarantee in most cases.
What do I need so that I can open my account?
You must follow the instructions we provide to the letter. You may need an opening deposit, sometimes just £1, although if it is more it is usually noted on the product page. You will also need to provide identification. The law requires banks to verify your identity to prevent money laundering and there's no getting around it. Usually, that's it.
I still owe a bank money, can I apply to open a new account with them?
Of course, there are some sensible precautions. Don't apply to open an account with a bank you've had problems with in the past or to whom you still owe money. Honesty is always the best policy - you don't need to lie and you'll almost certainly be found out if you do.
I'm on the fraud database, can I open an account?
Some people cannot open a bank account, however. If you are listed on the CIFAS fraud database as being expected of committing application fraud, or any other type of financial fraud against UK financial institutions, no one can guarantee you can open an account, not even us. If you're on the CIFAS database in these circumstances, our guarantee doesn't apply. If, however, you've been the victim of identity fraud in the past, you will normally have a protective registration which simply means the bank might ask for further evidence of your identity. You can still open a new bank account with only a protective registration.

What if the bank turns me down?
In the highly unlikely event of this happening, you should ask the bank why. Write to them and ask them for an explanation of their decision. In most cases, rejected applications are because of a clerical error - on your part or the bank's part - and are easy to sort out. Just telephone them or call in to their branch and straighten things out.
If they still won't approve your application, please contact us for further advice. Remember, most of the accounts we can give you access to carry our Money-Back Guarantee - provided you follow the correct application process, prove your identity and aren't on the CIFAS Fraud Database - see our Terms and Conditions for details.
